Why stop short, when you have the keys of the kingdom?

We all know that keys hold the power to unlock doors. So why do so many people stop short when they have the keys of the kingdom?
“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
Many people hold such power, yet let the keys rust away and go unused.
I recognize that there are many people who hold various spiritual beliefs. There are clearly many drastically opposing worldviews that are out there. I’d like to direct this post to anyone who would call themselves a Christian or a follower of God’s one and only Son, Jesus Christ. I want to talk about our use of those keys that Jesus bought us through His death on the cross.

When you bring your dreams before God and truly desire His help, you have access to the heavenly Father. His compass will always point northward.
With God, you can live with purpose instead of being swayed by emotions and circumstance. If you let yourself be swayed by circumstance, you will find the turbulent winds of life blowing you to and fro. But when you seek God’s input, even though the winds may blow, your compass will only ever point one direction: north. I can personally testify to that. Beauty in daily living is harvested when you fix your eyes due north. Following God will help you navigate life.

Today, I am reminded of how the tongue possesses immense power. As someone who tends to not lack for words, I am challenged to reflect on how I chose words, speak them, and when and how I communicate them. It is easy for me to just say what I want to say, however and whenever I say it.

Why do we think that we need to travel to a far away land to serve others best?
I admit for the first twenty-six years of my life, I had no clue what missionary work or service projects were all about. Did I do a random community service effort or help with a fundraiser here and there as I grew up? Certainly. However, in the last five years or so, my heart has been drawn to serving others in need, no matter where the country was located, what was being asked of me in regards to service, or what the conditions were like in the land I was entering…
