unconditional love, being ready to love, unexpected love

You need to be READY to love well

unconditional love, being ready to love, unexpected love

We prepare to be ready for so many events each day, don’t we? If we didn’t face unknowns in life then things would be easier.

We get ready for work, for school, for sports games, practices, for parties, for meals, for bed and everything in between. People like to be prepared to do well with the challenges each day presents.  However, the problem, is that typically we only do this consistently when we are dealing with events we’re expecting. What about the events that find you – the ones that you didn’t see coming that register in the depths of you heart?

The Power of Leaders Who Open Doors

leaders who open doors, leadership empowerment during employee transitions

Do you like to help people pursue their dreams in life? Have you ever had to cover for team members who left the organization unexpectedly?

Over the years, I have been fortunate to run a successful company for well over a decade. Through that time, I have been able to help many people progress in their careers while building their skills. I have had many people leave my firm over the years too. More than I would have ever predicted.

Initially, I found myself hurt, disappointed and frustrated. I felt like many people were not honest with me, and did not maintain open lines of communication with me. Many times a simple conversation could have changed things (or at least I thought). Sometimes, local competitors had recruiting firms call to allure key staff away from our organization.

A Unique Life-long Response – Truly Loving Your Enemies

loving your enemies, loving your neighbors

Do you have any tough relationships in your life right now that seem to go out of their way to make your life miserable? Do you have any enemies? How do you respond to them?

I unfortunately can admit that many times I have allowed their attacks to affect me personally more than I ever should have. I allowed discouragement, disappointment and frustration to give birth to responses led by bitterness and anger. For me they many times were relationships close to me such as: clients you work desperately to please that are never appreciative, romantic relationships that seem at peace with devastating your world, family members that reject your unconditional love, or dear friends who unexpectedly walk out of your life while attacking your character. It is easy for us to do what I did in response. However, my goal today is to present a case for a splendid alternative. It is my prayer that it would challenge you and become one you would embrace not only now, but for life.

Jamaica mission trips, serving in Jamaica

Being Flexible in Jamaica

Jamaica mission trips, serving in Jamaica

I don’t know why it seems that I have to travel to some country far away from home to learn the most basic, yet essential life lessons? On my recent trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, I learned more about the power, beauty and wisdom behind being flexible.

I traveled to Jamaica for a series of reasons, including being a part of the biggest missionary team to ever take sail to the seas. More than 3,000 people including well known musicians, speakers, authors, comedians and pastors traveled with me into Montego Bay with http://www.praisefestministries.com/ .

the greatest love story ever told

Why Isn’t the Greatest Love Story Enough?

love story, greatest love story ever told, tears of love

Most people like a good love story don’t they? So why isn’t the greatest love story enough for so many people?

I think heavily about questions like this at Easter more than other times I find. Many times I think we misunderstand true love. Unfortunately, it isn’t a modern problem that we can diagnose with some sort of trite solution. No, the problems stem from the voices of the way back machine of our history.

I definitely am not trying to profess to have all of the answers. I simply seek to share some questions that can engage our hearts today as we consider the romantic relationship in our lives currently, or our dreams of cultivating one in the future.

A Life Changing Back-Story

backstory, back-story, a life altering story, a life changing story

Throughout all known generations there has been an allure to hearing powerful stories.  Today I’d like to share one close to my heart.

First of all, I should start by explaining the story I have to share today has nothing to do with physical fitness or rowing a boat (though the picture might make you think that). The picture represents the concept of a “back-story”. A back-story is one that presents the beauty within the real story be shared in the present moment. It is the “story behind the story” so to speak.
